Since books were and still the initial source of knowledge for human, especially Iraqi people, including but not limited to it intellectuals, writers, scientists, thinkers, and many others, who were and still egger to learn everything new, explore history, and share their culture and knowledge with the rest of the world, Trade Bank of Iraq participated as an economic sponsor for the Basra International Book Fair 2021.
The support of the bank for this fair is very important due to what the book represents, especially for Arab region. When you read or hear the well-known motto stating “Cairo Writes…Beirut Prints… Baghdad Reads” you can see how societies worked together to produce, develop, and cherish all types of book; the thing that raised them to the highest levels of education and science.
Through its participation, TBI played a very significant role in introducing the public to how to use banking services by providing necessary information and educative materials. The bank also introduced the products it provides to enable people use them in best and right ways.
At the end, we emphasize the importance of partnership in all fields and levels and its role in activating and revitalizing the economy in different forms and models, the thing than ensures a serious and effective contribution to financing the various economic sectors thus serving our beloved country.

As the Iraqi government directed the participation in Expo Dubai 2020 side by side to our Arab brothers and all world countries, Iraq will be participating, among 191 countries, in the opening of Expo Dubai 2020 on 1/10/2021 at the Iraqi Pavilion-Opportunity District. Trade Bank of Iraq is always seeking to be one of the first sponsors among other official sponsors of the Iraqi pavilion and to contribute in managing and completing the Expo participation file according to the prior directives of the Prime Minister (Order no. 145) assigning TBI officially these tasks.
The importance of Iraq’s participation in Expo 2020 Dubai lies in the fact that it is the first Expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region besides, it is the largest event in the history of World Expo in terms of its coverage and attracting visitors from all over the world for it attracts more than 191 participants and 25 million visitors.
The exhibition is hosted by the Emirate of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates during the period (1st October 2021 till 31st March 2022). Ii is worth mentioning that Expo is held every five years and lasts for 6 months (26 weeks) attracting millions of visitors from all over the world.

Trade Bank of Iraq launches online banking system and mobile app to its customers
- TBI aims to offer seamless banking experience with the latest technologies through the launch
Baghdad, 13 June 2021: The Trade Bank of Iraq (TBI) has today launched its online banking system and mobile app as part of its efforts to help meet customers’ needs and provide seamless banking experiences.
Available in English and Arabic, the online banking system and mobile app will offer safe and secure banking convenience, allowing customers to conduct their banking transactions more easily.
The launch comes at the back of a successful soft launch in April by TBI. Developed by Finastra, a leading financial technology organisation, the launch of the online system and mobile app comes at a vital time in response to the COVID-19 pandemic where people will be able to minimise the number of physical visits to TBI branches as well as save significant time.
Among the key features is the international money transfer option, a first-of-its-kind for Iraqi banks that will enable TBI customers to transfer funds to any bank around the world.
As well as having access to their accounts and finding out their daily and monthly withdrawal limits, customers can also check the balance of each account, view their transaction history for up to one year and check their bank statements.
The mobile app, which is available to download from the Apple App Store and Google Play , also enables customers to see the nearest TBI ATMs and branches.
Dr. Salem Jawad Chalabi, Chairman of the TBI and Chairman of the Board of Directors, said: “Today is a historic day for the Trade Bank of Iraq as we introduce our online banking system and mobile app for the first time.
“With more people using smartphones and computers and having access to the internet, the online banking system and mobile app will help take banking experiences to the next level.
“Safe and secure, they have both been created to make the everyday lives easier for our customers, giving them the opportunity to bank the way that suits them best. At the same time, it also provides more flexibility and convenience, allowing our customers to manage their accounts and money from anywhere at any time with just a few clicks of a button.
“This is a significant chapter in our history and one that will greatly enhance the customer experience as well as help propel TBI’s growth in Iraq and around the world.”

The Chief Representative of Trade Bank of Iraq, Mr. Habib Bitar, visited Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) to discuss and follow up the procedures of developing the Bank’s branch business in Riyadh with the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) and Central Bank of Saudi Arabia. This comes in consistent with the Bank’s plan to expand its business at both regional and global levels.
The visit aims toward activating the banking and commercial activities by the mean of strengthening cooperation aspects within this bilateral relationship. For that regard, the Iraqi government is working to implement many projects and investments in partnership with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in different broader areas which shall contribute to the consolidation of relations between these two countries.
The Republic of Iraq seeks to build a stronger and more significant presence in the financial market at regional level as a financial institution having close relations with global financial networks. This expansion of Bank business is an opportunity to build a network of banking relationships with major institutions in the Saudi financial and banking sectors and shall provide investment opportunities in the Iraqi market, which is witnessing a continuous growth.

As part of National efforts to fight COVID-19 pandemic in Iraq, Trade Bank of Iraq arranged for a blood donate campaign by its employees in coordination with National Blood Transfusion Center/Ministry of Health.
Trade Bank of Iraq organises blood donation campaign to support the National Blood Transfusion Center
Baghdad, 27 January 2021: The Trade Bank of Iraq (TBI) has organised a blood donation drive for public administration employees in coordination with the National Blood Transfusion Center as part of national efforts to fight the pandemic and its effects on Iraqi society.
The drive is part of TBI’s CSR initiatives as part of its continuous efforts to support Iraq’s community and promote social responsibility among its employees. TBI hopes to inspire and encourage more and more people to come forward to donate blood with this campaign.
Dr. Salem Jawad Chalabi, Chairman of the Bank and Board of Directors, emphasizing the important role of these initiatives for the wellbeing and health of the citizens, said: “The blood donation initiative is part of our commitment towards our nation and the safety of our people.
“We recognize the efforts of all the heroes working in all sectors in the face of the pandemic and hope to continue helping them perform their noble duties. We launched this campaign to provide a helping hand through blood donations to the National Blood Transfusion Center, to distribute to hospitals that need the assistance”.
The National Blood Transfusion Center, formed under Iraq’s Ministry of Health, is implementing preventive measures during the drives and is monitoring the social distancing protocols under the strict surveillance.
Chalabi added: “Such an initiative is not new for TBI. We launched a similar blood donation campaign last year and donated five million US dollars as an emergency contribution to the Iraqi Ministry of Health to confront the global spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
“We aim to introduce more similar initiatives and campaigns for a successful transition to the post-pandemic phase.”
TBI has introduced several social initiatives for the health, educational and service sectors in recent years in addition to campaigns supporting orphanages and other essential sectors.
TBI also advocated the need for the unification of all efforts of the public sector, private sector, and individuals to contribute to the government’s efforts to protect society in these exceptional circumstances.

Trade Bank of Iraq hosts dialogue with Iraqi Private Banks League on achieving economic growth
Baghdad, November 23 2020: The Trade Bank of Iraqi (TBI) in partnership with the Iraqi Private Banks League held a dialogue session on the national bonds issued by Iraq’s Ministry of Finance.
The session aimed to keep pace with the reforms being undertaken by the Iraqi government, to advance the economic reality to achieve sustainable financial stability. The session also seeks to attain macroeconomic reforms and to provide essential services.
During the session, several important topics were discussed, including the method for offering financial bonds with attractive interest to attract individual and institutional investors both within and outside the traditional markets.

During the session, Dr Salem Jawad Chalabi, President and Chairman of the TBI, said: “This step comes at the back of TBI’s involvement in the economic reforms being undertaken by the Iraqi government.
“Through constructive dialogue with members of the Iraqi Private Banks League, we discussed various options for offering these bonds. A large part of the funds generated will be directed to support the infrastructure development and boost the private sector. As we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, it is vital to find new opportunities for potential collaborations and partnerships.
“The aim is to address the fiscal deficit and provide cash liquidity that contributes to securing the salaries of employees and retirees. “
TBI was established in July 2003 with the aim of helping the reconstruction of Iraq by facilitating international trade and continues to be at the forefront of large-scale infrastructure developments across the country.
The institution’s financial network and expertise play a significant role in sourcing and securing funding for projects that will benefit the Iraqi people for generations to come.

Trade Bank of Iraq announced the signing of a joint cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Youth and Sports as a contribution in supporting and rehabilitating Youth and Sports projects and activities, as well as sponsoring clubs plus unions.

Trade Bank of Iraq names Salem Chalabi as its new Chairman and President
Baghdad, 17 September 2020: Trade Bank of Iraq (TBI) announced that it has named Salem Jawad Abdul Hadi Al-Chalabi as the company’s Chairman & President effective immediately under the directive of the Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi.
Al-Chalabi will oversee and manage the operations of the biggest Iraqi bank whose exceptional and unprecedented financial performance has resulted in it being ranked as one of the best regional banks and the safest bank in Iraq. TBI recorded a significant financial and geographical growth last year with increase in its revenues.
Al-Chalabi, who graduated from Yale University, will bring a wealth of experience as the new Chairman of TBI. He has previously held high-ranking positions across his career and most recently was adviser to the current Prime Minister on international legal and financial affairs.
Salem has in-depth experience in business development, strategic planning, and extensive experience in Iraqi government policies. Prior to that, Al-Chalabi was a partner in the renowned international law firm “Stephenson Harwood LLP “, and held roles at leading global law firms like DLA Piper, Clifford Chance and Morgan Lewis.
Salem Al-Chalabi will be succeeding Faisal Al Haimus in the new position, who wished him success in his new role in the future to continue the success story the bank has achieved recently to support the reconstruction efforts in Iraq.

The Sixth monthly draw/(Semi-annual)/Season Four of TESTAHEL Dinar was held on Friday September 4th 2020 at VIP Hole of Baghdad International Airport. The event was attended by Dr. “Bassim Abdul Hadi Hassan”, consultant of CBI, and TBI Vice Presidents: Mr. “Firas Al-Hamadani, Mrs. “Lina Talal” and Mrs. Yussur Hazim as well as number of the Bank employees.
It is worth mentioning that “TESTAHEL” is one of the new products issued by Trade Bank of Iraq in 2017 and continuing for the fourth consecutive year and has the approval of the Central Bank of Iraq. Any citizen can participate in it by depositing IQD 500,000 thousand in one of TBI branches to get a chance to win prizes through:
- Monthly Draws: (15) cash prizes of (IQD 500,000) a (1) cash prize of (IQD 10,000,000)
- Quarterly Draws: (20) cash prizes of (IQD 1,000,000) and (1) cash prize of (IQD 15,000,000) on June & December.
