Baghdad, 29 July: Trade Bank of Iraq (TBI) is being considered for ranking among the Top 1,000 World Banks 2020 for last three consecutive years by the UK’s prestigious The Banker magazine in recognition of its efforts in providing excellent banking services and developing its trade offerings at par with global standards and matching market expectations.
The Banker is the world’s premier banking and finance resource, providing global financial intelligence since 1926. The Banker’s Top 1,000 World Banks ranking has been setting the industry benchmark since 1970, providing comprehensive intelligence about the health and strength of the banking sector.
Cementing its international standing with its high-quality service and product offerings, TBI climbed up in its global rankings by an impressive 26 positions from 2019 to 319 in terms of Tier one Capital for 2020 rankings.

In compliance with the directives of the National Health and Safety Committee and the Iraqi Ministry of Health in light of the Corona Virus (COVID-19) Pandemic and as we care for our Bank cadres, 600 PCR tests with (100) laboratory blood and (120) normal blood tests were made for all banking staff who were in permanent contact due to the nature of their work.
We deeply appreciate the Ministry of Health role in providing us with the necessary swaps as we also appreciate its heroic cadres (the White Army), who were at the first line in fighting the virus, for taking these swaps.
In spite of the pandemic, TBI cadres continued their normal work with the aim of conducting all banking business and paying the salaries of the State employees, whose salaries domiciled with the Bank.
Mr. Hamza Ramadan, TBI Head of Electronic Documentation, had a prominent and influential role in achieving the required communication for taking the necessary swaps which was done by the personal supervision and follow-up of Mr. Faisal Al-Haimus, Chairman & President of Trade Bank of Iraq, for the President always concerns for the health and safety of all the Bank’s cadres.

At the beginning of the Corona crisis, Trade Bank of Iraq donated an amount of (5) five million dollars to support the efforts of the Iraqi Ministry of Health in combating this epidemic, while its employees donated 25% of their salaries, where the total amount reached (IQD 265,100,000) two hundred and sixty-five million and one hundred and one thousand Iraqi dinars, to support the families affected by the outbreak of this new virus. The employee’s donations were deposited at the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs account (Social Solidarity Contributions Account).

TRADE BANK OF IRAQ ANNOUNCES CAPITAL INCREASE UNDER NEW THREE YEAR STRATEGIC VISION
Baghdad,31 March 2020: Trade Bank of Iraq (TBI) has announced a new capital increase that aims to raise the bank’s financial strength in line with the new strategic vision for 2020-23.
The bank has increased its capital to USD 3 billion (3.5 Trillion Iraqi Dinar) for the year 2020 from USD 2.3 billion (2.7 Trillion Iraqi Dinar) in 2019.
The step has been taken with the approval of the Prime Minster of Iraq on the back of TBI’s 2019 financial results audited by Ernst & Young. The increased capital is aimed at reinforcing the bank’s status in Iraq and its position as a leading Iraqi bank with global reach.
TBI achieved a robust growth in revenues and in key financial areas during the financial year 2019. The audited financial results shows that TBI achieved revenues of USD 708 million (837 billion Iraqi Dinar), which grew by 12% over 2018, and a net profit of USD 556 million (657 billion Iraqi dinars) in 2019, an increase of 68% compared to the previous year.
The total assets of TBI grew to USD 29 billion (34 trillion Iraqi Dinar) in 2019 thereby recording an increase of 27% over the same period in 2018.
Faisal Al Haimus, Chairman & President of Trade Bank of Iraq, said: “The capital increase is a significant step forward on the path to creating a stronger and growing bank. It will reinforce our financial strength substantially.
“The new three year strategic vision of our operating business should position us for significant growth, both in revenues and profit.”
The capital increase, the largest in the history of TBI since its establishment in 2003, solidifies TBI’s leadership on development financing for the country and help continue to play a pivotal and influential role in Iraq’s ongoing recovery.
Faisal added: “We have accomplished a lot in the recent years but we are aware that we have still a long way to go. Our responsibility is to help increase the quality of life for the people of Iraq.
“This capital increase exemplifies our strong commitment to see projects that will significantly influence the lives of the people in Iraq – in cities, in rural communities, and one that will have lasting impact for our future generations.”
TBI also successfully transferred 20% of the bank’s profits for the year 2019 amounting to 111 million US dollars (131 billion Iraqi dinars) to the Ministry of Finance – the state’s treasury.
The bank opened its first branch outside Iraq last year in Riyadh, KSA and plans to upgrade its representative office in Abu Dhabi Global Market to enable it to conduct investment management and advisory activities.

Trade Bank of Iraq showcases investment opportunities in Iraq at Global Trade Review MENA 2020 summit
Baghdad, February 26 2020: Trade Bank of Iraq (TBI) promoted investment opportunities in Iraq at the Global Trade Review (GTR) MENA 2020 summit held in Dubai and highlighted their commitment towards reconstruction of Iraq through its activities in the trade finance sector.
Several infrastructure projects are underway in Iraq as the country continues to rebuild leading to several potential investment opportunities in the region especially in the power sector.
It’s assessed that the real GDP growth of Iraq is expected to grow up by an average of 3.1% by 2023 with non-oil GDP expected to grow tremendously on the back of the reconstruction efforts.
TBI representatives present at the GTR MENA summit highlighted the potential opportunities to invest in the fledgling economy as the country continues to rebuild.

TRADE BANK OF IRAQ CONTINUES STRONG GROWTH AND POSTS NET PROFIT OF USD 556 MILLION FOR 2019
Baghdad, Iraq, 17 February 2020: Trade Bank of Iraq (TBI), established in 2003, achieved a robust growth in revenues and in key financial areas during 2019, for another consecutive year with its consistent performance, preliminary report released by the bank for the financial year during 31/12/2019.
The bank posted a net profit of USD 556 million in 2019, an increase of 68% from 2018, on revenues of USD 673 million, which grew by 12% over the previous year.
Financial unaudited statements for the year ending 31st December 2019 reveal enhanced financial strength of TBI as a consequence of incessant improvements throughout the year in key sectors, including gross revenue and total assets.
The total assets of TBI grew to USD 29 billion in 2019 thereby recording an increase of 27% As a preliminary comparison to 2018.
Primary results the resilient earnings and improved asset base have earned TBI multiple awards at the recently held The Banker Awards 2019 in London.
The bank granted loans during 2019 to the tune of USD 434 million, the 2019 bank’s efforts made to lift the Iraqi economy and social development during the year through loans aggregating USD 1.9 billion for various Iraqi governmental and public sector projects in energy, industrial, agricultural and commercial sectors, assisting them in achieving further growth of the Iraqi economy

The event was attended by Mr. Waleed Eidi (CBI Counselor), Mr. Fouad Al-Wakeel (TBI Senior Vice President) and Mr. Hussein Ali Muhi (Head of TBI Retail Banking) and number of TESTAHEL participators who submitted an attendance form through the Bank page on Facebook.
It is worth mentioning that “TESTAHEL” is one of the new products issued by Trade Bank of Iraq in 2017, which has the approval of the Central Bank of Iraq, and still proceeding for the third year in row.
