TBI in the 2nd Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Conference 2025

As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting all state regulatory efforts, Trade Bank of Iraq (TBI) took part in the Second Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Conference held in Baghdad. The event was organized by the Union of Arab Banks and the Iraqi Private Banks League, under the supervision of the Central Bank of Iraq.

TBI’s official spokesman, Mr. Ahmed Saad Al-Khazraji, stated:

“Our participation in this conference reflects the Bank’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the Iraqi and Arab banking sector’s commitment to international standards related to AML/CFT compliance.”

He added: “TBI has taken concrete steps to establish a robust and integrated compliance framework by enhancing its internal control systems, implementing advanced policies for early detection of suspicious financial activities, and adopting cutting-edge analytical tools to ensure an effective response to any risks that may threaten the integrity of the financial system.”

The conference addressed a wide range of topics, focusing on developing control and compliance mechanisms within financial institutions, in addition to strengthening human resource capabilities to better manage operational risks—reinforcing the banking sector’s role in safeguarding Iraq’s national economy.

Through its participation, Trade Bank of Iraq reaffirms the importance of supporting such strategic initiatives and high-level conferences that contribute to promoting transparency and integrity, while enhancing trust in the Iraqi banking sector both locally and internationally. TBI Recognized Excellence Award in Direct Transfer Operations

 

Baghdad, Iraq – May 13, 2025

JPMorgan Chase awarded Excellence in Direct Transfer Operations Award to Trade Bank of Iraq (TBI), in recognition of the Bank’s commitment to best practices in automated payment and transfer processing.

This achievement highlights TBI’s exceptional efficiency in processing financial transactions and the leading role it plays in straight-through processing (STP) of direct transfers in both USD and EUR. The STP award is based on the accuracy and automation of payment and transfer operations, which are processed without the need for manual intervention. This significantly reduces errors, operational costs and time. The award also reflects the speed and precision of international interbank transfers—saving time and enhancing reliability across borders.

TBI’s official spokesperson, Mr. Ahmed Saad Al-Khazraji, stated: “We were granted such award based on the volume of automated transactions handled by the Bank and the percentage of direct international transfers, measured according to JPMorgan Chase’s strict technical and procedural standards. Achieving a 99.68% STP rate for MT103 messages places TBI among a select number of banks worldwide to receive this distinction—demonstrating our ongoing efforts to enhance banking services, improve performance, and invest in the skills and capabilities our staff.”

He also added: “TBI holds a well-steady position among financial institutions both locally and internationally. Throughout 2024, The Bank has been recognized multiple awards for its key role in supporting major development and reconstruction projects, as well as facilitating a wide range of trade finance operations across import and export sectors. We remain committed to our active role in supporting the national economy of Iraq.”

TBI maintains a global network of over 384 correspondent banks across 60 countries and 93 cities, enabling seamless execution of international banking operations.

Cash Deposit ATMs

For faster service experience, you can now deposit cash directly at our ATMs as per the details outlined below:

  • The cash deposit service is provided exclusively to TBI IQD cardholders (Visa, MasterCard).
  • The service is free of charge. Cardholders of such cards shall not be imposed any fees.
  • The maximum amount for each deposit transaction is IQD 5,000,000, on the condition that the number of banknotes does not exceed 150.
  • The monthly deposit limit is IQD 13,200,000.
  • The maximum monthly deposit is based on the customer’s approved transaction volume conducted in the banking system, and should not exceed IQD 13,200,000.
  • In case customer deposits an amount to the card account via the bank mobile application or through a branch cashier, such amount shall be deemed within the customer’s monthly deposit limit.
  • TBI deposit ATMs shall accept only the following banknotes: IQD 10,000, IQD 25,000, and IQD 50,000.
  • After completing the deposit, please make sure to collect the receipt indicating the transaction details. You shall receive notification and email of the amount so deposited.

Trade Bank of Iraq conducted a training course for a number of employees of the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity’s departments.

In implementation of the directives of the Prime Minister and in line with its strategy to develop its operations and services according to the highest standards for beneficiaries and the general public, TBI held its fourth letter of credit “LC” course which for employees of government departments dealing with the bank in this regard. Trade Bank of Iraq Hosting CBI Governor

On Thursday, 10 December, 2024, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq “CBI”, Dr. Ali Mohsen Al-Aalaq, visited the headquarters of Trade Bank of Iraq and was welcomed by the bank’s president and chairman, Mr. Bilal Sabah Hussein. This visit comes in order to review the workflow and the services provided by the bank, in general.

The bank’s official spokesman, Mr. Ahmed Saad Al-Khazraji, stated: “The Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq visit aims to follow up on the report of the Central Bank’s support team, which has been working for nearly a year with the advanced team of Trade Bank of Iraq to strengthen its operations in various fields. This visit is part of the ongoing efforts to improve the bank’s performance and enhance its services. This has significantly contributed to increasing the bank’s efficiency and developing its services, in line with the Iraqi government’s vision for the advancement of the Iraqi banking sector. The Governor also emphasized the pivotal role for the bank in supporting commercial financial transfers, which helps stimulate the Iraqi market. He further noted the remarkable progress the bank has achieved over the past year in terms of services provided and the opening of new branches to expand the bank’s operations.”

Located in Baghdad/Al-Karkh, Al-Saydiya area, thus increasing the number of TBI branches in the capital to 13, providing comprehensive services to customers across various sectors.

TBI spokesman Ahmed Saad Al-Khazraji stated: “This year, we have successfully inaugurated several branches across Baghdad. Uunder the leadership of Mr. Bilal Sabah Hussein, Chairman and President of the Trade Bank of Iraq, the bank’s management has taken decisive and steady steps to implement its ambitious expansion strategy. This strategy aims to extend our branch network, reach a broader customer base, and provide unparalleled services using the latest technologies and resources. Furthermore, we are pleased to announce that another branch shall come to light in the southern Iraq before the end of this year, with details to be revealed in the near future.”

Travelers through Erbil and Sulaymaniyah airports may collect their USD cash, designated to travel, from TBI outlets located therein (Trade Bank of Iraq outlet in Erbil Airport) and (Trade Bank of Iraq outlet in Sulaymaniyah Airport).

The branch will offer a variety of services to its customers, including individuals, government institutions, local private sector companies, and foreign instiutions operating in Iraq.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS

Trade Bank of Iraq “TBI” held a breast cancer awareness seminar in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, Women’s Affairs Department, which was organized by TBI’s Women’s Empowerment Division for a number of female employees at TBI Head Office.

The seminar discussed on the importance of early diagnosis of cancer, emphasizing that early treatment is crucial in preventing the exacerbation of the disease, increases survival rates, and decreases mortality rates.

Thus, it is essential for women to be aware of the symptoms and causative factors associated with breast cancer and to seek medical care promptly. This is part of the action plan of the National Strategy for Iraqi Women (2023-2024), aiming to raise awareness about the importance of early breast cancer detection to receive better medication options.
