Trade Bank of Iraq (TBI) announces the commencement of receiving applications from citizens wishing to obtain cash USD for travelers through our bank, according to the directives of the Central Bank of Iraq, starting next Thursday, July 25, 2024.
In order to facilitate travelers’ access to USD, deposits in Iraqi Dinar will be accepted three working days before the travel date at any of our branches spread across the capital, Baghdad, and Iraq in general.
The cash USD will be delivered at TBI USD exchange outlet at Baghdad International Airport (Babylon Hall) exclusively after the traveler completes departure procedures (pro passing passport stamping checkpoint).
This step is in line with the new mechanism announced by the Central Bank of Iraq, which aims to ensure the delivery of cash USD to genuine travelers and simplify travel procedures.
We emphasize that travelers can receive their cash dollars through TBI USD exchange at Baghdad International Airport 24/7 after passing passport-stamping checkpoint.

As we always keen to support our economy and national currency, Trade Bank of Iraq “TBI” declared that it is persistent in implementing its plan to conduct USD financial transfers of individual traders for at the official rate specified by the Central Bank of Iraq “CBI” (e.g. IQD 1,320 per one dollar). The bank commenced implementing such plan since last July, at a cap of ($100,000) one hundred thousand dollars during one month for each individual traders for the purposes of importing consumer goods.
We stress that TBI have been and still working on developing its services provided to customers for a smooth-facilitated flow of their financial transaction(s) in accordance with legal frameworks and correct and sound course ensuring the safety such transaction(s).
The external transfer requirements for individual traders: –
- Opening a current account in accordance with valid conditions and regulations of Trade Bank of Iraq “TBI”.
- The external transfer shall not exceed the determined limit of $100,000 (one hundred thousand dollars only) per month.
- Provide a proforma invoicewith validity date not exceeding (6) months as of the date of placing order on the platform.
- The customer shall, within (30) days for neighboring and regional countries and (60) days for other countries, submit to the bank an evidence that the materials have entered Iraq, in addition to an undertaking proving that that he/she does not own a company nor is a shareholder in any. In the event that customer does not comply with providing such requirements within the period specified above, he/she shall not be allowed to conduct such transfer and all legal action shall be taken against such customer accordingly.
- Provide the bank with (Manifest (containing the required information proving the entry of the materials to Iraq.
- The above requirements will be handled by the Bank’s branches operating in Baghdad and other governorates.
- The bank will not accept any transfer requests of customers not actually owning a workplace (a business concern/shop).

- Requirements and Mechanism for buying USD:
Upon completing the electronic reservation procedures and confirming your visit date, you will be directed to one of the bank’s branches to deposit the IQD cash amount. Therefore, you must meet the requirements and follow the purchasing mechanism, as stated below:
- Requirements:
- A valid Iraqi passport with a valid visa or residence permit.
- ID card and Certificate of Nationality, or National ID card.
- Residence card.
- A valid travel ticket.
- The traveler shall undertake to the bank not to buy foreign cash from another party inside Iraq during a period of (one month).
- Mechanism for Buying USD:
- The IQD amount shall be deposited with the bank’s branch specified for the traveler by the online system, provided that such IQD amount is equivalent the USD amount allocated for travel purposes.
- Traveler shall receive their allocated USD amount exclusively from TBI currency office located at Baghdad International Airport after submitting the deposit slip given to the customer upon depositing the equivalent IQD amount.
- The maximum period for depositing the IQD amount is two (2) days prior to travel date.
- The USD amount shall be delivered upon completing the boarding pass and passport stamping procedures.
- TBI currency office located at Baghdad International Airport, which designated for providing travelers with the allocated USD amount, is available 24/7.

- Opening a current account in accordance with valid conditions and regulations of Trade Bank of Iraq “TBI”.
- The external transfer shall not exceed the determined limit of $100,000 (one hundred thousand dollars only) per month.
- Provide a proforma invoicewith validity date not exceeding (6) months as of the date of placing order on the platform.
- The customer shall, within (30) days for neighboring and regional countries and (60) days for other countries, submit to the bank an evidence that the materials have entered Iraq, in addition to an undertaking proving that that he/she does not own a company nor is a shareholder in any. In the event that customer does not comply with providing such requirements within the period specified above, he/she shall not be allowed to conduct such transfer and all legal action shall be taken against such customer accordingly.
- Provide the bank with (Manifest (containing the required information proving the entry of the materials to Iraq.
- The above requirements will be handled by the Bank’s branches operating in Baghdad and other governorates.
